  2023年9月19日に、日本クラブ会員のロナルド・ウィンストン氏による彼の父、ハリー・ウィンストン氏の伝記「King of Diamonds: Harry Winston, the Definitive Biography of an American Icon（キング・オブ・ダイヤモンド）」が発刊されることになりました。

  ハリー・ウィンストン氏の両親は貧しいユダヤ系移民で、1890年頃にウクライナからニューヨークへ渡り、小さな宝石商を始めました。小柄で控えめな彼は、正式な教育を受けていなかったが、無限の意欲と野心を秘めていました。そんな彼はラグジュアリーを体現し、一時はホープ・ダイヤモンドを含む世界で最も有名な宝石の3分の1を所有する謎めいた人物、ハリー・ウィンストンに変身しました。

  自力でダイヤモンドと宝飾ビジネスにキャリアを築いたハリー・ウィンストン氏の物語は、ビジネス上のライバル、同僚の裏切り、執念深い顧客、家族の裏切りなど、衝撃的な内容が盛り込まれています。

  RONALD WINSTON (top left photo) grew up in Westchester, New York and graduated with an honors degree in science and English from Harvard University, where he was friends with Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert. He went on to work at MIT and then at New York University in rocket propulsion. Winston entered the family diamond business in his late 20s at the behest of his father, Harry Winston, and after his father’s death in 1978, he took over the company, building it into a world-famous brand.
