    Reciprocal Club Membership with the University Club of San Francisco

    【How to Use / Overview】

    The Nippon Club and The University Club of San Francisco began a reciprocal club relationship in April 2025. Members of the Nippon Club can therefore use the University Club of San Francisco’s facilities during their visit to San Francisco, California.

    The University Club of San Francisco is a private city club founded in 1890. The present clubhouse was constructed atop Nob Hill in 1909.

    Facilities of the club include a dining room, bar, library, reading room, conference rooms, accommodations, fitness center, and squash courts.

    【How to Use】
    To use the facility, you need to apply online with the University Club of San Francisco in advance.

    The auto-reply email you will receive after applying will serve as your letter of introduction, so please save it on your mobile phone or other device and present it at the front desk when you use the service.

    General access to the club house is available to reciprocal guests of the University Club seven days a week from 8am – 11pm, except holidays. The clubhouse is closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day (January 1), President’s Day (3rd Monday of February), Good Friday (the Friday before Easter), Memorial Day (last Monday of May), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (1st Monday of September), Thanksgiving Day (4th Thursday of November), the day after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year’s Eve (December 31). The front desk is staffed all days, 24 hours a day, including holidays.

    The accommodations consist of 22 guest rooms including five suites which have an adjoining sitting room. 16 of the overnight rooms are in traditional décor and 6 in contemporary decor. Please contact the University Club of San Francisco directly to check the availability of accommodations and to make reservations.

    All facilities of the club are available for use at the general rate.

    A Letter of Introduction is required for the use of any facilities. Contact The Nippon Club for a Letter of Introduction which must be sent to the University Club of San Francisco in advance of your arrival. The Letter of Introduction can be sent by The Nippon Club to reservations@UClubSF.org.

    Reciprocal members are required to settle their bills prior to leaving the club. Payment can be made by major credit card (MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Diners, Discover) and/or cash. Certain services are subject to applicable taxes and other charges.

    Guests of reciprocal club members must be accompanied by the reciprocal club member.
