The live event (sponsor companies’ VIP invitations only) was held on Friday, June 25, at Peak Events (101st Floor, 30 Hudson Yards, New York). The event was moderated by Mr. Maeda, Vice President & Assistant Secretary of the Nippon Club and Ms. Christina Maxwell.

Ambassador Yamanouchi of the Consulate-General of Japan in New York and Mr. Ueno, President and CEO of Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc., who assumed the position of President of the Nippon Club this year, gave opening remarks.

Ambassador Yamanouchi and President Ueno presented a check to Mr. John Brewer, President of the MET Orchestra Musicians Fund. Also, on behalf of the musicians, Ms. Mariko Anraku, Mr. Demian Austin, and Ms. Kari Docter participated in the presentation ceremony.

And then the concert began, performed by the musicians of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, with the view of New York City from the 101st floor in the background.

The sound of each instrument was very beautiful, and the soprano singer Wendy Bryn Harmer had an outstanding voice. Portions of the concert will be shown during the second, virtual part of the Summer Festival on Friday, July 9. Ms. Mariko Anraku (harpist), the only Japanese member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, will provide commentary. This Virtual Summer Festival includes a special bento box prepared by the Nippon Club’s chef, and there will also be door prizes. So please join us!

Guests were treated to a post-concert reception with a spectacular view from the ”Edge”, a sky deck on the 100th floor.
