This year’s annual autumn music event was held on Wednesday, October 25 at Nippon Club under the title of “Brazilian Night – Passionate Samba, Enchanting Bossa Nova.” The first half of the event featured a buffet-style dinner and a selection of alcoholic beverages, while members enjoyed socializing and chatting with each other over dinner.

Entertainment in the second half featured musician Mr. Nanny Assis with his band, live performance of traditional Brazilian music, and samba dancing by samba dancers Ms. Samuela Samba and Ms. Nao Yamada. The emcee was Ms. Saori Goda, as in the Summer Festival. The event began with an opening remark by Mr. Maeda, Vice President & Assistant Secretary of the Nippon Club.

Born in Salvador, Brazil, Mr. Nanny Assis is a versatile and talented Brazilian musician who received the prestigious Brazilian International Press Award as “Best Singer of the Year.” Also, in 2017 he received, in Tokyo, Japan, the Brazilian Ambassador of Music and Arts award for his work promoting Brazilian culture in Japan, New Zealand, Cuba, Italy, Russia, Israel, Turkey, and the UK. He has released albums such as “Double Rainbow”, “Brazilian Vibes”, “Rovanio”.

Nanny Assis and his band performed traditional Brazilian music and his songs. He also sang along with the audience, which really got the crowd going.

Then, Samuela Samba and Nao Yamada, samba dancers in gorgeous costumes, appeared on stage.

They performed samba dancing with passion and enthusiasm. They invited the audience to dance along with them, and the audience was swept up in the heat and excitement of the carnival, which was very exciting.
