Nippon Club Hybrid Holiday Party 2021
An in-person event was held at the Nippon Club on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

Our annual holiday party was held at the end of last year as a hybrid celebration that consisted of an in-person event, which was held at the Nippon Club building on Wednesday, December 15, and an online event, which was streamed from December 22-24.

The in-person event began with a sumptuous buffet dinner prepared by Chef Yasuoka, which was served in the gallery space on the 7th floor and followed by mingling.

After dinner, the guests moved to the Rose Room on the second floor for entertainment. The show began with greetings from Ms. Saori Goda, the master of ceremonies, and Mr. Masaaki Maeda, V.P. and Assistant Secretary of The Nippon Club. “The 2020 holiday party was held virtually, but this year, I am very happy to be here with all the guests and to see you face to face,” said Mr. Maeda. Mr. Ueno, President of the Nippon Club and President & CEO of Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc., followed with opening remarks. Ambassador and Madam Ishikane of the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations were present as guests of honor.

First to perform was the diva of club jazz, Ms. Monday Michiru, and her quartet, who opened with a Christmas song. Their last song, “Ain’t It the Truth,” featured a flute performance by Ms. Monday Michiru.

Ms. Monday Michiru, and her quartet was followed by two top-notch Broadway singers, Mr. Ryan Silverman and Ms. Ali Ewoldt. Accompanied by piano, they performed a series of popular musical numbers that left the audience asking for more. They sang one more Christmas song as an encore to great applause, and it was a wonderful concert.

We then held a raffle drawing for several fantastic prizes provided by our sponsors. The early Christmas present was a great success, and the party came to an end, with all guests smiling.
