36 Intro to Liberal Arts on Classical Music

カーネギーやメトロポリタン歌劇場、NYフィルなど、世界有数のクラシック音楽の聖地NY。この素晴らしい環境を存分に満喫する為の、クラシックの総合的な教養を楽しみながら身に付けて頂く講座です。

第1回 「フランス最大の作曲家ドビュッシーから印象主義と世紀末を学ぶ」
フランス史上で最も重要な作曲家クロード・ドビュッシーの音楽は印象主義と呼ばれる一方、当時の世紀末芸術とも重要な関係を持ちます。彼の天才を印象主義と世紀末の二つのキーワードで解説します。

第2回 「米国クラシックの歴史(19世紀まで)」
新大陸の植民地時代、そして独立から19世紀あたりまでの、知られざるアメリカのクラシック音楽の歴史を概観していきます。

Reona Ito
Conductor. Mr. Reona Ito is the third generation to be born into a musical family of conductors in Fukuoka, Japan. He came to the US in 1997 in order to study international affairs at the George Washington University. After graduating in International Affairs in 2002, however, he decided to further his studies as a professional musician and moved to New York City to work intensively. After studying composition and conducting at the Juilliard School, he received a diploma in orchestral conducting from Mannes College of Music and a Master of Arts in orchestral conducting from the Aaron Copland School of Music.
Mr. Ito started his professional career as a conductor in March 2008 with Mozart’s opera “The Marriage of Figaro” at the Goldstein Theatre in New York. In June of the same year, he and his orchestra The Reona Ito Chamber Orchestra (Now The New York Harmonic Band) had their first concert at Carnegie Hall.
From 2011 to 2013 Mr. Ito served as music director of Zagreb Sinfonietta in Croatia. In August 2012 he and Zagreb Sinfonietta were invited to perform at the Porec Music Festival in the Euphrasian Basilica, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In March 2013 he produced the official concert celebrating the 20th-Year Anniversary of the Japan-Croatia Diplomatic Establishment and was invited to meet with the president of the Republic of Croatia, Ivo Josipovic at his Office.
In the 2014-15 season Mr. Ito conducted the International Peace Day Concert at Kimmel Center in Philadelphia and the International Peace Concert in Tokyo, both by the Harmony for Peace Foundation, known for their humanitarian activities with the United Nations.
In October 2014 Mr. Ito received the American Prize in Orchestral Conducting (Professional Orchestra Division). In September 2016 he was appointed as Visiting Scholar for life at Musashino Gakuin University in Tokyo.
